MAVENs research on machine-learning-guided discovery of coherent quantum-defect hosts has been featured by Quantum Zeitgeist
Our recent work, “Beyond Diamond: Interpretable Machine Learning Discovery of Coherent Quantum Defect Hosts in Semiconductors,” combines interpretable machine learning with first-principles calculations to identify materials whose chemical and electronic properties may support long-coherence quantum defects.
The framework recovers established hosts such as diamond and SiC, while identifying less-explored candidate materials including WS₂, MgO, CaS and TiO₂ for further investigation.
The feature provides an accessible account of the research and its implications for computational materials discovery in quantum technologies.
